Had a raspberry pi setup as a terminal to display statistics on a television – needed it to not go into sleep mode etc.<\/p>\n

SSH or login to your RPi as root
\nI added the following script<\/p>\n

# needs apt-get install x11-xserver-utils first
\n# if something errors, stop the script
\nset -e<\/p>\n

# set the screensaver to off, no power savings, and no blank screen
\nxset s off
\nxset -dpms
\nxset s noblank<\/p>\n

# exec the session manager so you have a toolbar still
\nexec \/etc\/alternatives\/x-session-manager<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I then added a path to rc.local<\/strong>
\nchmod +x YOURSCRIPTNAME.SH<\/code>
\nchmod 777 YOURSCRIPTNAME.SH<\/code><\/p>\n

nano \/etc\/rc.local<\/code>
\nAdd “\/path\/to\/your\/script.sh”<\/p>\n

***EDIT***
\nApparently that does not work – you end up getting a “cannot change display “”” type of argument.<\/p>\n

So, change the LXDE autostart function script:
\nnano \/etc\/xdg\/lxsession\/LXDE\/autostart<\/p>\n

xset s off
\nxset -dpms
\nxset s noblank
